EE has announced its own budget 4G smartphone and entry level 4G tariffs

EE has announced its new Kestrel 4G smartphone which is due to be launched at the end of April. The budget handset will cost £99.99 on pay-as-you-go or you can get it for free with EE’s new 4G price plan of £13.99 a month which includes 500MB of data, 500 minutes and unlimited texts.

The EE “Kestrel” handset has a 4.5in qHD display, runs on Android 4.3 and is powered by a 1.2GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor.  There is 1GB of RAM and 8GB of internal storage expandable via a microSD slot. On the back is a 5MP Camera and on the front a 1MP camera. Inside is a 2000 mAh battery. It is compatible with CAT 4 4G LTE and has HD Voice compatibility to improve voice call quality.

The Kestrel handset is manufactured by Huawei and is the first in a series of EE-branded devices named after British birds of prey.

EE has also announced the launch of a new range of 24 month entry-level 4G tariffs which include a free 4G handset starting at £13.99 per month.
