HTC’s Dual Core Sensational Smartphone

So with everyone and his dog talking Galaxy S2, we thought we’d take a quick look at HTC’s 1.2Ghz Dual core offering the Sensation. We are not going to draw comparisons between the Galaxy S2, Motorola’s Atrix and the HTC Sensation – we have reviewed all three so you can decide which is best for you.

The HTC Sensation looks and feels like a thinner HTC Desire HD with some curves on top, as with all HTC phones it has a quality feel to it. The Sensation fits nicely in your hand and is comfortable to hold, even though it is a beast of a phone dimensions wise.

Of course no one will complain about a leaner more athletic Desire HD when it comes to functionality, and the Sensation is just that. You will find 4 capacitive navigation buttons just below the screen, a micro usb slot on the side and a 3.5mm audio jack on the top. For those of you wanting to connect the Sensation to your TV it’s worth mentioning if you do not have a DNLA enabled TV you will need a MHL adaptor to connect your TV’s HDMI with the Sensations micro usb, which is not supplied.

The display is nothing short of brilliant its vivid colours and super sharp 4.3-inch qHD screen look simply stunning. Watching movies and viewing photos is a real joy on this super clear screen.

HTC have taken Android Gingerbread back to the dough and added some of their own ingredients in the form of HTC Sense 3.0. HTC have ditched is Google’s keyboard, replacing it with their own QWERTY offering and the launcher and homescreen have been replaced with HTC’s own Sense overlay.

Probably the most significant change in HTC Sense 3.0 is the appearance of HTC Watch, which lets you buy and rent movies on your phone… Look out for Google Movies appearing on an Android phone near you some time soon, could we be witnessing the start of gTunes?

Another smart feature is the Sensation’s rather nifty lock screen that allows you to set various shortcuts, drag and drop them into a central ring, and these will then open once the phone is unlocked. You will find recent apps and connection toggles tucked neatly away in the pull down notifications menu.

The HTC Sensation offers up some pretty impressive specs in the imaging department to the camera sports 3264×2448 pixels, 8-megapixel, autofocus, face detection, geo-tagging, image stabilization, instant capture, and touch-focus. The 1080p HD video is super smooth, in fact the Sensation has to be one of the best mobile phones for recording video that we have seen.

Thanks to that beefy dual core 1.2Ghz processor coupled with a huge 768Mb or RAM the HTC Sensation is, as you would expect one of the fastest smartphones on the market today.

To sum up the HTC Sensation is a feature packed powerhouse phone that’s easy to use anyone new to smartphones or indeed those switching up from an existing smartphone will not be disappointed.
